About Mezzanine Gates

Horizontal sliding gates are designed to complement the mezzanine safety railing system. When installed on the mezzanine the gate is opened and closed manually. Opening the gate allows material to be placed onto the top deck. The gate is then closed to protect employees from dangerous and costly workplace accidents.

Lift-out gates also allow access to the mezzanine by an employee manually lifting the gate vertically from its pinned position. After the material is placed onto the top of the mezzanine the lifted gate can be returned to its pinned position. The product is then moved to a new position.

A safety pivot gate provides continuous railing during the loading and unloading of material onto the top of the mezzanine. The gate structure has a bar; when pivoted up an employee opens an area for material to be placed on the top of the mezzanine. After the product is placed on the mezzanine the safety gate is again pivoted into position with the gate railing closing the opening in the outside railing and opening the internal railing for access to the material. At all times the mezzanine railing is closed preventing employee accidents. For material to be offloaded from the mezzanine, the process is just reversed.

Swing gates are designed to provide a method of closing the material loading area while not in use. Employees are required to open the swing door allowing material to be placed on the top of the mezzanine. Material should be placed beyond the swing of the gate door so that an employee can safely close the door to prevent accidents. Call and speak with one of our mezzanine technicians to choose the gate best for your operation. Call today- 800-876-3736.

Advantage of Mezzanine Gates

Mezzanine gates, also known as mezzanine safety gates or mezzanine access gates, are designed to provide safe access to elevated platforms or mezzanines in warehouses, distribution centers, and other industrial settings. Here are some advantages of mezzanine gates:

  • Fall Protection: Mezzanine gates are designed to prevent falls from elevated platforms, which can be a significant safety hazard. They typically feature sturdy construction, durable materials, and safety features such as handrails and toe boards to prevent workers or objects from falling off the mezzanine.
  • Compliance with Safety Regulations: Mezzanine gates are designed to comply with relevant safety regulations and standards, such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations in the United States. By installing mezzanine gates, businesses can ensure compliance with safety regulations and provide a safe work environment for their employees.
  • Ease of Use: Mezzanine gates are typically designed for easy operation, with features such as self-closing gates, counterbalanced gates, or sliding gates that are easy to open and close. This makes them user-friendly and allows workers to easily access the mezzanine while maintaining safety.
  • Versatility: Mezzanine gates come in various configurations and styles to accommodate different mezzanine layouts and access points. They can be customized to fit specific requirements, such as gate width, height, and orientation, to suit the unique needs of the facility.
  • Cost-Effective: Mezzanine gates are often a cost-effective solution for providing access and fall protection on mezzanines, as they can be installed without the need for extensive modifications to the existing structure. They can be retrofitted onto existing mezzanines or integrated into new mezzanine installations, making them an economical safety solution.
  • Increased Efficiency: Mezzanine gates can help improve workflow and efficiency in a facility by providing safe and easy access to elevated platforms, allowing workers to move materials and products more efficiently. This can result in improved productivity and reduced downtime.

Mezzanine Gate Applications

  • Manufacturing Facilities: Mezzanine gates are also used in manufacturing facilities where mezzanines are used for production or assembly operations. They provide safe access for workers to access the mezzanine level for tasks such as material handling, quality control, or equipment maintenance.
  • Retail and Commercial Spaces: Mezzanine gates can be used in retail or commercial spaces where mezzanines are used for additional storage, display, or office space. They provide safe access for employees and maintenance personnel to access the mezzanine level for various purposes.
  • Logistics and Transportation Facilities: Mezzanine gates can be used in logistics and transportation facilities such as airports, ports, or rail yards where mezzanines are used for storage or operations. They provide safe access to elevated platforms for workers to efficiently move materials, products, or equipment.
  • Industrial and Manufacturing Plants: Mezzanine gates are commonly used in industrial and manufacturing plants where mezzanines are used for storage, production, or other operations. Mezzanine Gate Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are used mezzanine gates safe?
A: Absolutely! Every used mezzanine gate we sell gets a full inspection and cleaning prior to shipping. This ensures that every used gate we sell is like-new.

Q: What types of used mezzanine gates does ASI sell?
A: We carry four styles of mezzanine gates:

Q: How do I know which type of gate I need?
A: Choosing the right mezzanine gate depends on factors such as the type of product that will be passing through the gate, and whether the gate will be used in a high-traffic or low-traffic area of your warehouse.

Q: Which types of mezzanine gates are best suited for high-traffic areas?
A: Pivot gates and swing gates are easy to open, providing quick access to your mezzanine. Sliding gates offer quick access to your work platform as well, and are also available with electric motors, making them even easier to operate.

Q: Which types of mezzanine gates are suited to low-traffic areas?
A: Lift-out gates are ideal for low-traffic areas as they are not as quick to open. But when they are closed, lift-out gates still provide a safe barrier for the edge of your mezzanine work platform.

Q: Will ASI install my used mezzanine gate?
A: ASI provides professional installation nationwide. We also provide you a complementary CAD drawing to show you how the gate will fit into your mezzanine.
