Used Pallet Flow Rails

Pallet flow rails, also known as flow through pallet rack, can be set up on the floor or installed in pallet rack. Available in rollers or single, double, or triple wheel, rails are set on an incline. Loading is done from the back while order picking is completed in the front. Loading is done from the back while order picking is completed in the front. These rails use gravity to move loads from the loading end to the unloading end. This type of method is known as a first-in/first-out (FIFO) system. This high-density storage is constructed to maximize current floor space in a warehouse. Flow through pallet rack will reduce forklift damage as forklifts wont need to be used as often. American Surplus sells and installs all types of used flow rack systems including pallet flow and carton flow. Please call (800) 876-3736 for more information and a quote. Pallet, case, or carton flow roller rails provide more than one type of conveyance system: pallet flow in selective racking systems, pallet flow in floor conveyance systems, and carton or case flow in pick module systems.

Choosing the right type of rail can be somewhat difficult due to many factors: type of pallet, weight of pallet load, type of pallet bottom, type of load and stability of palletized load, and need for braking system.

About Pallet Flow Rails

Pallet flow rails, also known as gravity flow rails or gravity flow pallet racks, are a type of storage system designed for the efficient movement of pallets within a warehouse or distribution center.

These systems typically consist of inclined rails or rollers that are installed within a pallet rack, allowing pallets to flow by gravity from the loading end to the picking end of the rack. As pallets are loaded onto the top end of the rails, they move by gravity down the slope to the other end of the rack, where they can be easily accessed for picking or other operations.

Pallet flow rails are often used in high-density storage applications where space is at a premium and quick access to pallets is essential. They are also useful in FIFO (first in, first out) inventory management systems, where older inventory is automatically pushed forward to ensure it is used before newer inventory.

Pallet flow rails can be customized to fit specific pallet sizes, weight capacities, and warehouse configurations, and they can be integrated with other warehouse automation technologies for improved efficiency and productivity.

How Are Pallet Flow Rails Used

Pallet flow rails are used in a variety of warehouse and distribution center applications to facilitate the efficient movement of pallets. Here are some common ways pallet flow rails are used:

  • High-density storage: Pallet flow rails are ideal for high-density storage applications where space is limited. They allow for the storage of multiple pallets in a single lane, reducing the amount of floor space required for storage.
  • FIFO inventory management: Pallet flow rails are often used in FIFO (first in, first out) inventory management systems, where older inventory is automatically pushed forward to ensure it is used before newer inventory. This helps ensure that inventory is used in a timely manner and reduces the risk of spoilage or obsolescence.
  • Quick access to inventory: Pallet flow rails allow for quick and easy access to inventory, as pallets can be easily moved to the picking end of the rack for retrieval.

Overall, pallet flow rails are a versatile and efficient storage solution that can help improve the productivity and efficiency of warehouse and distribution center operations.

Pallet Flow Rails Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What is the maximum weight capacity of pallet flow rails?
A:
The maximum weight capacity of pallet flow rails depends on the specific design and configuration of the system. However, most pallet flow rails are rated to hold between 2,000 and 3,500 pounds per pallet position.

Q: How do you load pallets onto pallet flow rails?
A:
Pallets are typically loaded onto pallet flow rails at the high end of the system using a forklift or other material handling equipment. The pallet is placed on the rails and is then allowed to flow down the slope to the other end of the rack.

Q: Are pallet flow rails adjustable to fit different pallet sizes?
A:
Yes, pallet flow rails can be customized to fit a wide range of pallet sizes and configurations. The rails can be adjusted to accommodate different pallet widths, heights, and weights.

Q: Can pallet flow rails be used with other types of storage systems?
A:
Yes, pallet flow rails can be integrated with other types of storage systems, such as selective pallet racks or drive-in racks. This allows for greater flexibility in storage and can help optimize warehouse space.

Q: What are some common applications for pallet flow rails?
A:
Pallet flow rails are commonly used in applications such as food and beverage storage, cold storage, manufacturing, and distribution centers. They are particularly useful in high-density storage applications where space is at a premium and quick access to inventory is essential.
