American Surplus offers nationwide shipping on all orders. Product can be shipped by your contracted carrier as a convenience to you, or ASI can obtain a freight quote for your approval. All shipping charges are in addition to the original order total. Shipping costs are based on weight and size of product after packaging.

In the Continential United States, American Surplus offers a variety of carrier options:

Less Than Truck Load (LTL): All LTL orders ship freight collect. Customers are welcome to schedule pickup with their own preferred carrier. In the event a customer does not have a carrier, ASI can provide a carrier offering an 80% discount (as long as your company does not have an account with our carrier). A check or credit card will be required to pay for the freight upon delivery.

Our LTL shipping hours are Monday through Thursday 7am to 4pm. We welcome all LTL freight carriers, but please note that Estes will only pick up standard (48" x 40") size pallets.

COD payments can be arranged with an LTL carrier. These carriers charge an extra fee (usually 6%) to pick up the check for American Surplus.

Truck Load (TL): ASI has a network of over 30 brokers to help get you the best possible freight rate. All truck load freight ships collect. Again, customers are welcome to book through their own carrier. Loading hours for truck load shipments are Monday through Thursday 7am to 3pm and Friday 7am to 10am.

Pre-Paid & Add Option: ASI will arrange freight to your door using our own discount plus an appropriate mark-up. Your cost will be shown on your sales order agreement.

Local Pickup: American Surplus is located a 1 Noyes Avenue, East Providence, Rhode Island. If you are in the New England area ASI offers customer pick-up at no additional charge. Your order can be picked up between 7am and 4pm Monday through Thursday and 7am to 10am on Fridays. Our warehouse staff is trained to load all types of vehicles, from U-Hauls to Pick-Up Trucks to Tractor Trailers. Contact our Traffic Department at (800) 876-3736 x226 to check the status of your order and coordinate fulfillment.

Important Details About Getting to ASI:

  1. Some older GPS units may auto-correct "East Providence, Rhode Island" to "Providence, Rhode Island". Double check that your GPS is navigating to East Providence before setting off!
  2. The names "East Providence" and "Rumford" are interchangable. Google Maps and many newer GPS units will accept both names, but some older devices will only accept one name or the other.
  3. Noyes Avenue is located off of Roger Williams Avenue, which has signs posted barring trucks from entering. These are for thru-traffic only, and can be disregarded when visiting American Surplus.
  4. Tractor-Trailer drivers should use caution when coming to ASI via North Broadway due to a low bridge on that side of Roger Williams Ave. The easiest route to ASI is to turn onto Roger Williams Ave. via Pawtucket Ave.

Shipping Time: The expected ship date shown on the confirmation page is an estimate of when the product will ship from our warehouse. This date may be affected by changes to the original order, workload, or payment verification. New Product: American Surplus can source new equipment from several vendors throughout the United States. We have numerous shipping points for new material handling products such as pallet rack, wire decking, flammable cabinets and more. Changes to Order After Packaging: Changes to an order, such as quantity or size, may accrue an additional re-packaging fee. Please make sure you discuss with your salesperson what type of forklift equipment and what type of loading docks you have available on-site so that we can eliminate extra time and fees for repackaging.

Shipping Delays: Due to extremely limited storage space within our shipping department, storage fees may accrue if orders are not shipped within a timely manner after completion. Once you are notified by the traffic department that your order is ready you have 5 days to pick the material up or have it shipped. After that time a retention charge of 2% of the total order may be charged as a storage fee per week.
