Push back racking for sale is a high-density rack system which stores multiple product types in less space than selective rack. Push back rack consists of nesting carts which move by gravity on steel rails. Each pallet has its own cart. Product is loaded from the front. Pallets sit on carts on the inclined rails. As pallets are placed in the system, the pallet behind moves back one position to the next cart. When a pallet is removed from the front, the remaining pallets move forward. Push back rack is ideal for applications that utilize the LIFO (last in, first out) method of inventory control. This will maximize productivity and reduce operational accidents. When compared to selective racking push back rack allows for up to 90% more products within the same footprint. With this style high density storage system, fewer aisles and forklifts are needed. These low maintenance racking systems will help optimize space while accommodating a wide range of pallet sizes and styles. Contact an American Surplus Inc. sales associate today!

What To Consider Before Buying Used Push Back Racking

What Type Of Storage Do You Need?

Before investing in your push back racking system, you should carefully consider the following:

  • Available Footprint: Assess your facility's dimensions including wall heights, available floor space, and obstructions such as columns or sprinkler systems that may affect rack placement. Knowing these details in advance helps streamline the system design process and is crucial to calculating how much racking will comfortably fit in your area. Without the need for forklift access, Pushback racking is a higher density storage solution than traditional pallet racks, maximizing storage in any footprint.
  • Type Of Products Being Stored: Consider the products you wish to store in your push back racking system. Push back racking isn't the suitable choice for every applicaiton due to it's design for LIFO storage. For multi-sku storage where selectability is concerned, or in situations where perishability is a concern, you should look to other options. For FIFO (First In, First Out) Storage, consider a solution such as Flow Racking or Drive-Thru Rack.
  • Throughput & Accessibility: How frequently are you accessing your racking? Pushback's high density design eliminates truck entry into the racking system, providing a high level of accessibility at a fixed point in your facility. This reduces forklift travel times and improves overall throughput of your rack.

What Is Your Budget?

Budget constraints are a central part of buying a material handling system. When planning your system, you should consider the following:

  • Service Life: High Quality, durable steel push back rack is designed for long-lasting service life. ASI sources minimally damaged racking components to ensure that a used push back racking system lasts for years to come.
  • Installation & Maintenance Costs: Pushback racking generally requires a professional installation team to ensure the system is installed safely and consistent with manufacturer guidelines. While installation can make push back racking a more expensive option when compared with other teardrop rack based systems, ASI's nationwide network of installers can assist in getting your push back system installation handled correctly. With no forklift traffic inside the racks, in many cases reduced damage leads to lower maintenance costs long term than other forms of racking.
  • Tax Incentives: Equipment such as push back racking purchased at American Surplus may qualify your business to claim the Section 179 Deduction, helping you save even more money at tax time. You should account for these savings when seeking out price quotes from various dealerships.
  • Unbeatable ASI Savings: At ASI, you get the same high-quality material you'd get from the manufacturer with none of the lead team and up to 60% off MSRP. Purchasing material handling equipment from a used supplier like American Surplus can help make your next pushback racking system more affordable.

About Used Push Back Rack

Why a Push Back rack system? Get better use of warehouse space - push back offers up to 90% more product storage than selective pallet rack systems. Store a variety of goods on different levels of lanes for easy product access. Up to 400% more selectivity than drive-in racks. High storage density coupled with selectivity for faster pick rates. Maximizes space utilization by filling the vertical cube. Last in, first out inventory. Unlike drive-in racks, each level is independently accessible.

Push back rack systems can store pallets from 2-6 pallets deep. Each row of product moves independently of the others. Pallets move by gravity which moves the carts along the inclined rails. Each level is independently accessible; the forklift operators do not enter the rack which results in less opportunity for accidents.

Push back rack is assembled vertically requiring fewer aisles, therefore, saving space in the warehouse. The interlocking carts reduce jamming and product damage. Carts have four wheels to reduce the amount of friction. The steel rails are a one-piece design and trays nest on top of each other when unloaded. Trays are installed at a low pitch making it easy to control the speed.

To best utilize a last in, first out (LIFO) inventory system, we suggest placing similar or identical inventory items in a single pallet row. This removes the need to be selective, because the first item in that row is the same as the last. Push back pallet racking saves on labor because pallet loads automatically slide forward towards the front of the rack, also reducing time on lift equipment. You can also control the angle of the rails to control the speed of pallets that shift forward.

Why buy used push back pallet rack? Push back rack is one of the more expensive styles of pallet racking, so you should always consider buying used to save money. American Surplus Inc. does not buy damaged warehouse racking, so all used racking we sell is in good working condition. It is also inspected and tested to ensure quality before packaging and shipment. Our consultations can help design a racking system that best fits your material handling storage or warehouse facility.
