Used Pallet Flow Rack

Pallet flow rack, sometimes called dynamic flow or gravity flow, is a high-density pallet storage system. It utilizes slightly inclined rails and skate wheels in combination with the force of gravity in order to create a dynamic system for maintaining and storing inventory. Pallets are loaded from the back of the racking via forklift and gravity drives them to the front of the system where they can then be unloaded.

When the pallet load in the first position is removed, the next pallets automatically slide forward without the need for any additional equipment. Pallet flow rack utilizes the first in, first out (FIFO) method of storage and is ideal for warehouses with quick-moving inventory or when dealing with anything perishable.

There are many benefits of installing a pallet flow rack into your warehouse or storage facility. Pallet flow racking decreases the time it takes to load and unload, which increases productivity and efficiency. This type of flow rack is ideal for high-volume case-picking. Pallet flow racks reduces the number of aisles that are needed to access warehouse inventory, freeing up space previously used by aisle for other applications. By using pallet flow racking, one can reduce the amount of square footage needed for the storing of your inventory.

Designed to reduce the number of aisles needed to access inventory, pallet flow rack uses lanes of wheels called flow rails to store product as many as 15 pallets deep. Flow speed is controlled by breaks installed at various intervals in order to prevent pallets from jostling around and greatly reducing the likelihood of product damage. Pallet stops at the head of each aisle gently bring pallets to rest once they reach the unloading position.

It is recommended that like-products or those with similar weights are stored together in order to most efficiently design braking systems based on weight to ensure safety and reduce the possibility of damaging any goods.

A pallet flow racking system makes any warehouse more efficient by increasing storage area, decreasing the need for additional time or labor to move product, and adds organization by creating two dedicated aisles of traffic to remove confusion. One aisle of traffic can be specifically dedicated to loading, while the other is used solely for unloading. This allows for greater proficiency with forklifts and reduces fuel costs, required labor, and opportunity for mistakes while increasing storage and worker efficiency.

Pallet flow rails are available in single-, double-, or triple-wheel applications. Single-wheel rails are designed to be used for lightweight pallet storage. Double-wheel rails are appropriate for regular duty and triple-wheel rails are ideal for heavy-duty pallet applications. Skate wheel rails are the most cost effective and most versatile option for pallet flow rack; however, for low temperature environments or  extra deep or extremely heavy-duty pallet storage, rollers may be a better option as they are more durable, with weight limits exceeding 3,000 pounds.

Pallet flow rack is similar to push back pallet rack in that they both utilize gravity and storage depth for added density. Pallets ride on flow rails, and typically product is loaded from the back, which then rolls to the front, where it is unloaded, whereas push back pallet rack system is loaded from the front of the system and is more likely to utilize a last in, first out (LIFO) method of inventory control.
