Frequently Asked Questions:

How Quickly Can We Get Started?

It might be quicker than you think! The first step is to give us a call or have us call you. Once we have a good understanding of your unique situation, we typically provide a quote within 5 days and will schedule a time with you to have one of our team members come visit your site.

How Long Will It Take to Remove Our Fixed Assets?

It depends on many factors such as...

  • Will the facility be shut down or operational?
  • How much equipment needs to be removed?
  • Are your fixed assets bolted or free-standing?

Best practice is to give yourself multiple months of time in planning so that way you provide a buffer for your project to finish according to a timeline. Getting a full count of the materials and good pictures is a great way to start the process of evaluating the liquidation of your facility.

Will ASI Buy and Remove Everything in My Facility?

ASI purchases all kinds of used warehouse equipment, from pallet rack, to mezzanines, and more! We don't always purchase all the material in a warehouse though. Uncommon sizes, bad condition, and very small quantities may dissuade us from purchasing your material. However, we always encourage everyone to reach out with their available material so we can better understand your warehouse and intentions and provide you with a recommendation that would best fit your needs.

Will ASI Clean Up After They've Finished Removing My Fixed Assets?

Yes! Removing used warehouse equipment is dirty work, so we ensure that all debris is disposed of appropriately, with the floors left in swept condition.

My Equipment is Bolted in Place. Will ASI Leave Holes in the Floor?

No, when removing equipment anchored to the ground, we will grind the remaining floor anchors down to be flush with the cement, or fill the holes with cement epoxy if necessary.

Can ASI Work Around An Active Business?

We Can! Removing fixed assets from a faciity that's in operation can sometimes slow down a project, as additional steps must be taken to ensure the safety of everyone involved while minimizing impact to your business processes. After more than 30 years, we know how important it is to minimize downtime during a Vanilla Shell Restoration, so we can work with you to help limit the impact as best we can.

White Box / Vanilla Shell Service

Are you in search of an easy, affordable solution to convert your warehouse or storage facility back to grey or vanilla shell condition? There are many reasons one could need to start with a clean slate, and American Surplus is ready to be your trusted partner for any that may arise!

What is a Vanilla Shell?

Whether you're relocating your business, restoring a space, winding down operations, or any reason in-between, many commercial real estate owners expect tenants to return their space back to Vanilla Shell condition before the end of their lease. Vanilla Shell refers to a partially finished space, often equipped with basic utilities, functional lighting, HVAC, and all the essential appliances expected in a business space. However, a Vanilla Shell space may not include fully finished interiors, such as walls and flooring or tenant-specific improvements such as logistics equipment like pallet racking, shelving, and conveyor. A Vanilla Shell space offers prospective tenants the convenience of a pre-configured framework for their space, while allowing the flexibility to customize a space to their own specific requirements.

How Can ASI Help Restore My Space to Vanilla Shell Condition?

American Surplus has been a partner for tenants and landlords looking to remove fixed assets from their facilities since 1991. Getting Pallet Rack, Shelving, Conveyor, Mezzanines, and other semi-permanent industrial fixtures removed from a facility so it's ready for customization by the next tenant can be a time-consuming, expensive process. Fortunately, American Surplus has the knowledge and ability to efficiently liquidate, dispose, and recycle the fixed assets you need removed promptly and cost-effectively. Oftentimes, we may even be able to pay you for your unwanted fixed assets!
