New Wire Decks

Wire decking is comprised of high strength steel mesh that is supported by steel channels. It’s designed to provide additional safety for pallet rack applications throughout a warehouse. They help to prevent pallets or other items from falling through a pallet racking system. Depending on the design you choose, those channels will sit either directly on top of the beams, or they will rest in the steps of the beams. ASI carries several styles of wire decking, including flared wire decking, flush wire decking, and step wire decking. Wire mesh provides several benefits when compared to other types of decking. Its open design allows light to pass through each level of pallet racking, increasing overall visibility in your warehouse. The wire mesh also reduces your risk of fire damage as it allows sprinkler water to pass between levels. Unlike wood decking between beams wire decking is a stronger alternative with long-lasting durability. Metal wire mesh decking attaches to the racks safer than wooden planks.

About Wire Decking

Wire decking is designed to be utilized with pallet racking, as it provides a surface to place partial cases and open cases without the risk of materials falling. Wire decking provides more uniform load support when compared to the pallet support bars. They allow light through the racking, which will save you on additional lighting being required.

New innovations in wire decking have revolutionized the world of industrial storage solutions. These new wire decking designs combine cutting-edge materials and engineering to offer enhanced durability, versatility, and efficiency. Unlike traditional wire decking, which primarily served as a platform for pallets, these new iterations are designed to optimize storage space further and provide improved safety features.

It also allows for the dirt and dust to fall to the ground instead of getting stuck in the racking. This is also useful in case of a fire because the sprinklers mounted on the ceiling will not be blocked by the racking and will be able to reach the ground. Local fire codes may require wire decking to be used when pallet racking is set up indoors.

Wire decking is maintenance free and simple to install. Wire decks simply drop into place and do not require any additional hardware to begin using. Talk with our sales team to find out which size and style wire decking is right for your pallet rack. If you are buying pallet rack as well from us, we will take care of all of that for you! If you are just buying replacement wire decks, we will ask you to fill out a spec sheet for your existing rack so we can provide the proper wire deck solution to you.

ProDeck50 Punched Deck is also available at ASI and is shipped right from the manufacturer. This type of decking is one of the most versatile pallet rack decking and has 50% open surface area. This open space gives ProDeck50 punch deck the ability to meet NFPA 13 Fire and Sprinkler Codes. This style of steel punched deck is an exclusive patented design. ProDeck50 is built for bulk rack applications and has a hole pattern design that prevents small parts from falling through. This style of punch decking is used for storing medical supplies, small parts, plumbing supplies, archives, hand-stacked parts, automotive parts, among other like items.

Advantages of Wire Decking

Wire decking offers numerous advantages in various applications. Here are some of the key benefits of using wire decking:

  • Improved Safety: Wire decking provides a safe working environment by preventing items from falling through the racking system. The wire mesh design ensures that small items or debris cannot slip through, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries.
  • Increased Visibility: The open-grid design of wire decking allows for better visibility and light penetration. This feature improves inventory management by providing clear visibility of products stored on different levels, making it easier to locate and access items quickly.
  • Improved Fire Safety: Wire decking is highly fire-resistant. The open design allows for better air circulation and reduces the risk of fire spreading throughout the racking system. In the event of a fire, wire decking allows sprinkler water to flow freely, aiding in firefighting efforts.
  • Quick & Easy Installation: Wire decking is relatively easy to install, making it a convenient solution for both new and existing racking systems. It can be simply placed on the beams, eliminating the need for additional hardware or tools.
  • Durability and Longevity: Wire decking is typically constructed from heavy-duty, galvanized steel or other robust materials. This makes it resistant to wear, corrosion, and damage caused by heavy loads or forklift traffic, ensuring long-term durability and reducing maintenance requirements.
  • Flexibility: Wire decking is available in various sizes and configurations to accommodate different storage needs. It can be customized to fit specific racking systems or adapted for specific applications, such as storing pallets, boxes, or smaller items.
  • Improved Inventory Management: The wire mesh design allows for easy identification of items and facilitates the flow of air, reducing dust accumulation. It also helps maintain inventory organization by preventing items from mixing between different storage levels.
  • Cost-Effective: Wire decking provides a cost-effective solution for enhancing the functionality and safety of racking systems. Its durability and long lifespan contribute to reduced maintenance and replacement costs over time.

Wire Decking Applications

Wire decking finds applications in various industries and settings where efficient storage and organization of goods are required. Some common applications for wire decking include:
