Used warehouse rack is a material handling storage system designed to store materials on pallets.  There are several used warehouse racks that are ideal for increasing storage space in any warehouse.  Warehouse rack is an essential element of any warehouse, manufacturing and distribution facilities.

Used warehouse rack consists of upright frames, beams, pallet supports and decking.  Used warehouse rack is available in three styles; step beams, box beams and structural beams.  The step beam is a roll formed beam with a step along the top inside edge.  This step is used to hold the wire decking or pallet support.  The box beam has four flat sides mounted onto an upright frame with end clips.  Structrural beams are c-shaped beams that assemble with nuts and bolts.

Upright frames vary in size and design depending on load requirement and style.  The most common used warehouse rack style is the formed "c" channel shape.  Holes are punched during manufacturing on the column at standard intervals so the load beams can be mounted into the upright.

Wire decking is the most common type of decking used in warehouses today.  Wire decking is available in various thicknesses and mesh dimensions. Wire decking is a safety measure to prevent weaker pallets from falling through the structure.  In the unfortunate event of a fire, wire decking play a roll in allowing heat to rise through to activate the sprinklers and allows water to pass through to extinguish the fire.  Wire decking allows a view of pallet alignment and prevents dust buildup.

Other components in a used warehouse rack system include pallet supports that are placed front or back between the load beams to support the pallets.  Footplates are pads on the columns to give the rack more stability.  Shims are used when the uprights are installed on uneven floors.  Row spacers and wall ties are mounted on columns to ensure the rows stay straight and properly spaced.  Column protectors can be installed at the base of the upright to minimize damage by forklifts.  Anchors are used to attach the uprights to the floor.
