Dockboard/dockplate guide for use in determining best size and type board required for your docking needs. Plates and boards should be chosen based on the method of loading and the weight and size of the loads. Height Differential:

The standard height for trailers is 55". Use this dimension as a reference number for a standard trailer height. Flat bed heights are higher.  Highest truck height = T.

T is the measurement from the ground to the bed of the trailer.

The dock height is calculated by measuring the distance from the ground to the top of the dock.

Dock Height = D

Truck Height (T) - dock height (D) = height differential (H)
