Each element of gravity rack provides added efficiencies. The main system consists of one or more bays of gravity rack frames and beds or shelves each fitted with 3-5 lanes of rollers fitted for the same size or type carton. Cartons then travel from the back loading area of the bay on rollers with guides to maintain tracking on its path to the front picking location. Carton flow rack guides can be setup to handle different size cartons. After the front carton is emptied and removed to the trash conveyor that can be configured to run above the conveyor system, the next carton in line moves into the front picking station. The product being picked and placed in an order tote can be positioned on a cart or a line of gravity conveyor running parallel to the carton flow. The order being filled is then moved along to the next bay of flow rack. Upon completing the picking, the order can be put on a center power conveyor line for further processing or moved manually on a cart. In addition to roller rack rails, spantrack flow rack can be used as an optional gravity rail system for cartons requiring more bearing surface during transfer.
